Learning Log #13 (Nov 12th - 16th)

Our review from our week:

KEIRA
Math: She put her knowledge to the test, by switching roles and teaching fraction equivalents.  She did great.  She knows her stuff.
Science: At her co-op class she had a guest lecture who taught them about engineering.  At home on another day we had a lesson about muscles.  We learned the names of the 10 most popular muscle groups, and did exercises to work the muscles as we learned them.
ELA: This week she practiced cursive, and typing, and read The Mystery of the Periodic Table, for her co-op class.
Piano: She practiced every day, and had lessons.
Violin: She practiced, listened to the songs she was suppose to be learning on a CD, and had lessons.
Tech: For her sewing this week she finished the bag she was working on with her teacher.

On another day when she was bored, she looked up, and made a pinata!  She loves crafting!

GARRETT
Math: He worked on more division this week.  He did worksheets that looked for division patterns, and started long division story problems and direct operation problems, too.
Science: We had a lesson about muscles, and learned the names of the 10 most popular muscle groups.  We labeled our own muscles as we went, and did exercises to work the muscles as we learned them.
ELA:
This week Garrett worked on learning cursive, did typing lessons, and read Wayside School is Falling Down.  At co-op they worked on performing a reader's theater of the first Thanksgiving, so that required a lot of reading as well.  They performed it later in the week, and did well.  They also discussed the chapter they were suppose to read from The Cay.
Piano: He practiced his songs every day, and did great at lessons.
Tech: Garrett took apart his LEGO bus this week, and started putting back together to make a car out of it instead.

LIBBY
Math: Libby enjoyed doing several chapters from Life of Fred this week.
Science: We had a lesson about muscles, and learned the names of the 10 most popular muscle groups.  We labeled our own muscles as we went, and did exercises to work the muscles as we learned them.
ELA:
She had typing lessons this week, read from her Molly book, read about volcanoes, and discussed the Molly chapter with her co-op group. She also practiced for a reader's theater of the first Thanksgiving, which required a lot of reading out loud, and then they performed it later in the week.
Piano: She's still getting the hang of learning to read notes, but making good progress.  She practiced nearly every day, and did well during lessons.
Tech: She practiced taking pictures using the zoom this week.

WILLIAM
Math: He joined Libby for our Life of Fred chapters this week.  He loves listening and answering when he can!
Science: We had a lesson about muscles, and learned the names of the 10 most popular muscle groups.  We labeled our own muscles as we went, and did exercises to work the muscles as we learned them.
ELA:
Will did lessons from Reading Eggs this week, and did a typing lesson.
ASL: We continued reviewing signs that we learned last year, to make sure we're solid on the old signs before moving on to new signs.  This will take awhile, since we learned so many last year.
Tech: His creativity came out again this week with a new vehicle invention.  He puts a lot of thought into his creations, and has many gadgets and special pieces on his vehicle that have specific jobs to do.  He was very proud of this one!
