This week for Science we picked up where we left off in our anatomy lessons before our break. We learned about the first half of the digestive system, and ate different foods while we learned to visualize the process.
We also had a different kind of lesson, when our goat unexpectedly went into labor. We came out just after the first baby was born, but we were there to see the whole process of the second baby being born. What a neat learning experience!

KEIRA
Math: Keira and I continued reading A Beginner's Guide to Constructing the Universe together for math this week. We had some good discussions on the broader subject of mathematics, and where we can find math in the universe. On another day Keira read some chapters out of Mathemagic (a Childcraft book) and did some of the magic math problems in there.
ELA: She finished reading The Magicians Nephew this week, and started reading A Wrinkle in Time. That is another book they will be discussing in her co-op.
Tech: She had started a project about a month ago making stuffed animals, so she continued to work on those this week. We went to the store and found the right eye buttons to put on, and she showed her progress to the nieces and nephews she will be giving them to.
Violin: Lessons started back up again, so she went to lessons and got new songs to start practicing. Something has lit inside her for violin since the break, and she's showing a renewed vigor for it.
Piano: She continues to practice her 3 piece Sonata that she's been working on, making good progress. She also added a primary hymn to her practice time.
GARRETT
Math: We're finishing up our division unit, so we did a few more practice games and sheets, and then dove into the end of unit assignments. Those consist of some harder problem solving worksheets that use division. We will be working on those for a few weeks to finish up the unit.
ELA: The book he will be discussing for co-op came in the mail this week, so he started reading Henry Huggins. He also spent some time reading from the Calvin and Hobbes collector's set his dad got for Christmas, and reading poetry from some books we have. In addition, he also did a typing lesson.
Tech: He was still working on his Hogwarts set this week. This one will take some time to put together. We'll take a picture when it's complete.
Piano: Garrett's working on a Mozart Minuet piece, and another one of similar difficulty, called The Parade of the Midgets. He's doing great on both.
LIBBY
Math: Libby did some review games on an ipad app, some Life of Fred chapters, and listened in on some reading I was doing with Keira (The Beginner's Guide...). She also enjoyed playing Clumsy Thief a few more times.
ELA: She read a variety of books this week. She read picture books, the graphic novel version of Robin Hood, some traditional Mayan stories, and from Molly; Happy Birthday Molly. She also did a typing lesson.
Tech: She started a course for photography this week that we got from The Great Courses online. She watched the first lesson, which had some tips and an assignment to take pictures of her favorite room in the house at different angles, and then to add something interesting into the picture.
Piano: She started playing a children's hymn by ear this week. She also kept sight reading a simple minuet piece.
WILLIAM
Math: Will did some addition games on the computer this week, and did a few chapters of Life of Fred. He also joined in a few rounds of Clumsy Thief Jr, which adds up to 10, instead of 100.
ELA: He did a lot of lessons from Reading Eggs this week. He also read Usborn beginner books with me, and Bears in the Night (A Dr Seuss book).
Tech: We put on some base plates on our LEGO table this week, and William helped me arrange the buildings he's assembled in the past onto the LEGO base plates to create a city. That required putting some of the buildings back together and arranging them in such a way that they'd fit on the street and look like a city.
ASL: Will practiced signing to me whenever he could, but he also learned new signs in songs we learned and poems we've been memorizing.
That's all for this week.
