Learning Log #35 (Apr 13th - 17th)

KEIRA
Math - Keira's continuing her study of math with Life of Fred.  She is a few chapters into Life of Fred, Liver, and doing well.
ELA - She has been working hard to memorize the Declaration of Independence, and rewriting the U.S. Constitution.  She has also been doing creative writing, a typing lesson, and reading The Law and Harry Potter.
Science - Keira enjoyed watching some episodes of Mythbuster this week.  Lots of explanations and experiments when watching that show.  Very interesting!
Portuguese - It's been awhile since she reviewed her Mango lessons, so she mainly focused on reviewing her previous Mango lessons this week, to get her ready to do more Mango lessons in the future.  She also learned a few more words to use around the kitchen, such as pode me dar, o lixo, o armario, and a despensa.
Music - She's been practicing the piano everyday and making great progress on her songs.  She also had lessons, virtually, with her teacher to get tips on improvement.





GARRETT
Math - Garrett did a great job working from Life of Fred this week.  He's working his way through the Farming book, and making great progress. He also sharpened his logic skills with a few games of Chess with his siblings.
ELA - He continued reading from The Phantom Tollbooth this week, and worked from his creative writing book. 
Science - Garrett enjoyed watching some episodes of Mythbuster this week.  Lots of explanations and experiments when watching that show.  Very interesting!

LIBBY
Math - Libby did a great job of working through the Life of Fred book this week.  She did several chapters from the Edgewood book, and is doing great.
ELA - Her reading came from the Rainbow Fairy books this week.  She also did some work from her creative writing book, and spent a lot of time typing a book that she's writing, on the computer.
Portuguese - It's been awhile since she reviewed her Duolingo lessons, so she mainly focused on reviewing her previous Duolingo lessons this week, to get her ready to do more Duolingo lessons in the future.  She also learned a few more words to use around the kitchen, such as pode me dar, o lixo, o armario, and a despensa.
Music - She's been practicing the piano everyday and making pretty good progress on her songs.  She also had lessons, virtually, with her teacher to get tips on improvement.

WILLIAM
Math - Will had fun using the abacus this week to work on double digit addition.  Another day he did a Math Seeds lesson, and another day he played Chess with his siblings.
ELA - Will read from The Good & The Beautiful's Level 2 reading book this week.  He also had a typing lesson, and worked on memorizing the states.
Social Studies - Will's study came from his memorization of the states.  He learned the states in geographical order, and played a game on the computer trying to find where they go on the map.
Tech - His building came from blocks this week.  He played around with Keva blocks, and random building blocks, putting a whole city together.
Portuguese - Will learned new vocab from the kitchen, and then practiced what he's already learned in a matching game of English to Portuguese flash cards.
