Update on Garrett

Garrett's doing great in speech!  Mrs Hart did a rough evaluation on him last week and he only has 4 more beginning sounds to work on!!!!!  *great, big happy dance here*  There are other things to work on, such as middle sounds, ending sounds, blends, and annunciation, but among those areas he also has little left to work on!  Hallelujah!!!  He's still on track to get his mouthpiece out at the end of December, and when that happens Mrs Hart will officially re-evaluate him (doing the lengthy test) and set up the goals to meet, with his new jaw in place.  She informed me at the beginning of the year that someone had donated a new paletometer to her, that she's saving for when Garrett's jaw is done being transformed!  Oh, not to mention the paletometer costs $300 to make!!!  It's another amazing miracle given to us along this journey!  If there's ever a way to find a way to repay Mrs Hart, you can bet we will do it!  Since his mouth has changed so drastically since his last paletometer was made he needs a new one.  I'm looking forward to him using it to learn the letter "r" when his mouth piece is out, because he's just not able to form it now without the paletometer.  It's a tough sound to form!  Anyways, good news all around.  And here's a picture to show the before and after, so far.  Look at how much wider his jaw is!  And it's a little hard to see here because he's lost so many teeth and he sticks his tongue through them, but look closely and you can see how much further his top teeth are over his bottom teeth!  In a good way, of course.  So much progress has been done in just a few months!  Awesome!!!
