We finished learning The Lord's Prayer in ASL this week. The kids can all sign the whole thing, though we're not great yet so we need some more practice.
This week we tried some experiments with water to learn the properties of water for Science. We used this website, and it was quite interesting and fun to do! https://jennyballif.com/science-mom-s-guide-to-water-part-3
First experiment was showing how water can "walk" against gravity.
| It started with four full cups, and three empty cups... |
| The water crawled from the full cups to the empty ones, creating a pretty result! |
Once again we had flood waters around us, so we talked about how we could use a siphon to get the water out of our window well if we needed to. ;) Luckily no water came in the house this time, so it was just theoretical.
MATH:
Keira spent the week working on a mystery book with me. There were a lot of deductions, coding, and logic needing to be spent to figure out this complicated mystery. The book is called The Eleventh Hour.
Garrett did lessons from Math Seeds this week. He took a test on there, and passed several lessons.
Libby mixed it up and did a few lessons from Math Seeds, and a few lessons from Life of Fred this week.
ELA:
Keira mostly did lessons from Reading Eggspress this week. Occasionally she sat down with a book, but mostly she did lessons.
Garrett read more chapters from Jedi Academy. He's loving it, as usual.
Libby did lessons on Reading Eggs, as well as practiced reading The Lords Prayer.
Garrett and Libby also did lessons from BBC Dance Mat Typing this week.
Keira got on a kick and suddenly found her interest in writing this week! She started writing a book, and then got on the computer and wrote a few chapters down. She's very proud of what she's done so far. This is HUGE for my hesitant writer! She's finally enjoying writing, and doing it on her own!!!
