ELA (English Language Arts)
KEIRA did some ELA worksheets, practiced cursive, and started reading "I Survived the Battle of Gettysburg". She likes historical fiction, apparently.
GARRETT read out of a "reader" book, most days, and library picture books on sick days. He also did some worksheets out of an ELA workbook.
LIBBY did some ELA worksheets too, practiced her handwriting, and read out of a "reader" book most days, and library books on other days.
Math
KEIRA practiced creating and testing hypothesis this week, from our curriculum. She also played Battleship on the sick days.
GARRETT played Battleship with his siblings on sick days, and practiced creating and testing hypothesis from our curriculum.
LIBBY reviewed harder addition and learned how to write a hypothesis for addition. She also learned how to play Battleship this week, which meant she learned what coordinates are and practiced strategy.
WILLIAM wowed us by also learning how to play Battleship, and did pretty well getting the concept. He also played Go Fish.
For Science this week we continued to learn from Mystery Science curriculum. We continued to learn about Forces, and used magnets to experiment with that kind of force. We also did a lesson about decomposition, and learned what happens to the leaves we raked up this fall. Fascinating, as always. Great curriculum!
As always, the kids practiced Piano daily, and had a lesson during the week. They're doing well, making progress, and enjoying it. Mostly.
We also were able to continue learning sign language this week, and finish memorizing a poem called, "Kind Deeds".
In addition to that, Keira went to orchestra (she plays the violin), created Art using her Doodle Crate, and did another assignment for her art class on the computer.
Libby was able to also do an assignment for her art class on the computer, and William learned about gears and built a top using his LEGO kit, and put together a hand crane with his Kiwi Crate.
It started out as a productive week, but we fizzled at the end due to sickness. Tis the season, unfortunately! :\
