Learning Log #23 (Feb 12th - 16th)

This week we celebrated Valentine's Day (aka my birthday)!  On Valentine's Day, the kids addressed and delivered Valentines to all their friends, and the rest of the day was spent doing birthday celebrations.  We went bowling, had a yummy dinner, cake (of course), and watched (and discussed) the movie, Wonder.

Now on to school matters...
Math
KEIRA worked on multi-digit division this week, through story and direct operation problems.
GARRETT did logic problems when he wasn't practicing multi-digit subtraction problems.
LIBBY discovered different methods of multi-digit addition, using manipulatives, the abacus, and number tricks.
WILLIAM did lessons on math seeds, and also practiced sorting numbers.

ELA (English Language Arts)
KEIRA read out of the book, Pie, this week, memorized a poem, and practiced handwriting.
GARRETT read the entire Adventures of Daniel Boon book this week, memorized a poem, and practiced his handwriting as well.
LIBBY started going to a book club this week.  She'll be reading the Kaya books, from American Girls and doing activities about those books with other girls her age.  She read plenty of picture books we got from the library this week, as well. She also practiced handwriting and memorized a poem, too.
WILLIAM read a discussed books about fish this week at our co-op.  He also had picture books read to him that we got from the library, memorized a poem, and practiced his handwriting.

The kids enjoyed a lot of free-style Art time with painting materials.  They played around with mixing paints, and painting different styles of paintings.

The kids did great with Piano again.  They're picking up on things fast and enjoying it.
