What a week! Our studies got interrupted a few times from some natural distractions, and Halloween. Our first interruption came in the form of the incredibly early snow storm! Amazing!! We had about 4-5 inches of snow, and it stuck! What a weird activity to be doing BEFORE Halloween!!! So, we had a reading, Monopoly, and snow day that day.
Then there was Halloween. We took the day off from our studies to have parties. Keira and her friend won the pumpkin carving contest at one of the parties.

Our final distraction came in the form of new baby goats! Some of our goats had babies late one evening, and one of the goats nearly didn't make it. That caused some distraction the next day when we had to bring him in and nurse him back to life. Happily, he recovered in a day or so, and is back with his mom, thriving.
KEIRA
Math - She read from Mathemagic this week, worked on some review sheets, and after Halloween she emptied her treat bag and made a bar graph of the items she got from trick-or-treating.
ELA - Keira did a presentation on Betsy Ross this week, so she did a lot of reading about her, and writing a two page paper on her, to prepare for the presentation. She also read from her new book, Dragon Slippers, and typed a letter to a penpal she has from the Phillipines.
Science - Keira's Eureka Crate came this week, and she excitedly spent a few hours on it. This week's crate was a card shuffler (pictured below).
Music - Piano lessons happened again, as usual, and Keira practiced every day. She's making great progress on her songs.
GARRETT
Math - Garrett reinforced his lesson on Prime Numbers by doing some worksheets on Prime Numbers. He also read from Mathemagic, and did some tricky problems involving time.
ELA - He read from Rush Revere, and Loud Boy again this week. He also did a typing lesson, and a grammar lesson from The Good & The Beautiful.
Science - We did some fun experiments with milk, food coloring, and dish soap. We tried things other than milk and had fun learning why it was reacting the way it was.
Tech - Garrett did another lesson in his Tynker.com programming course. He's enjoying it, and learning how to code.
Music - He worked on getting the rhythm down on one of his songs this week. He practiced every day, and had lessons on Wednesday.
LIBBY
Math - Libby worked on review sheets from previous lessons from Life of Fred. She did great. She also read a book about graphing, and filled out a graph sheet based on the candy she got from Halloween.
ELA - Libby read from Felicity and library books this week. She also wrote her penpal back (who lives in the Philippines). Another day she did a poetry lesson from The Good & The Beautiful. She learned how to do Acrostic poems and wrote a pretty one about Spring.
Social Studies - She learned more about what life was like back in the 1700s, for the people in America. She learned some things at co-op, and then she went to an all day camp on Saturday that was full of lessons and activities about living life as a pilgrim. What a great experience!
Music - Libby learned the left hand (chords) to A Whole New World this week. She's been practicing that on her own, since her lesson.
WILLIAM
Math - Will worked on review sheets from previous lessons from Life of Fred. He did great, only needing a little assistance when it came to filling out the analogue clocks, so he did another worksheet about clocks the following day. He also read a book about graphing, and filled out a graph sheet based on the candy he got from Halloween.
ELA - He did a few lessons from Reading Eggs this week, again. He also did a typing lesson, and read Mercer Mayer books. He's discovering that author, and enjoying the little books we have here at the house.
Social Studies - Will learned more about the life of a pilgrim, by learning about the people who started the colony of Jamestown. He colored pictures, listened to stories, and learned about what kind of food and activities they had.
