Learning Log #3 (Sept 19 - Sept 23)

This week the family read more from Pollyanna, and then went on vacation.  We spent the week learning about the desert.  Here are a few things that we learned:
  • how to pack effectively for a trip to the desert, and how tetris helps you fit it in the car
  • how cold it can be at night, versus how warm it is in the day in the desert
  • what swimmer's itch is (and how to be grateful we didn't catch it)
  • what plateaus are
  • what makes the rocks and sand so red
  • what vegetation is found in the desert
  • what sand dunes are
  • what dune buggies can do on sand dunes
  • how it feels to be in a sand storm
  • how to disassemble and reassemble a tent three times in a severe thunderstorm
  • what coyotes sound like at night
  • what other animals can be found in the desert
  • how to dig deep holes in the sand

What a fun, learning adventure we had as a family this week!
