Here's how the final week went.
We didn't have a lot left to do, actually. We have been finishing our curriculum over the last couple of weeks, and so this final week was pretty low key. It was fortunate because Libby broke her arm, so we spent a lot of time going to different Drs, and were still able to get school done.
We had four lessons left for Science, so this week we focused a lot on our unit study of plants. We explored the following ideas:
- Do plants eat dirt?
- Why do trees grow so tall?
- Should you water a cactus?
- Where do plants grow best?
We made a root viewer out of a cd case one day, and have been watching our radish seeds grow each day. We also made a grass head, and have been watching that grow each day. On our final day we played a game, putting plants where they'd grow best and seeing who guessed correctly.
Math
KEIRA had a few chapters left in her Life of Fred math book, so she took that as a challenge and finished it all in one day. The other days she spent playing math games on the ipad or computer.
GARRETT did Math Seeds lessons most days, and a day of Life of Fred.
LIBBY did some lessons of Math Seeds, as well as some practice counting money on ABCya Math Bingo.
Reading
KEIRA continued reading out of Matilda this week. She's a random reader. She is in the middle of reading both Spirit Animals and Matilda, depending on her mood.
GARRETT has been enjoying the Usborne book set, and has continued reading from that. In addition to that, he read to his brother, William, out of Dr Seuss's "Big Dog, Little Dog". He did great!
LIBBY read lots of different books this week. Some out of the Usborne book set, some Mercer Meyer books, and Dr's Seuss's "Big Dog, Little Dog." She's really making great progress!
As mentioned last week, KEIRA'S decided to learn Portugeuse, so she continued her studies with Duolingo every day this week.
