Math
KEIRA started her unit on division. She reviewed the basics of how, and then did division story problems.
GARRETT is working on multi-digit addition, and loving it. He thinks it's fun. He did story problems, and direct operation problems. Some were as large as 7 digits long, and he still loved them.
LIBBY worked on finding patterns in single-digit addition problems, and then played a game of Memory 10, where you find matches (like normal Memory) that add up to 10.
WILLIAM did a few lessons in Math Seeds, and played Memory 10 with me, as well. He's quick figuring those out!
ELA (English Language Arts)
KEIRA started reading Wayside Stories, and did a lesson out of her ELA workbook.
GARRETT started a graphic novel series this week, that he's fallen in love with. It's call The Adventures of Daniel Boon; aka Loud Boy. He's doing really well! I find him reading all the time!
LIBBY is gobbling up all sorts of books these days. She loves reading graphic novels, but she also loves reading picture books like Princess in Black. She's doing great!
WILLIAM did a lesson in Reading Eggs (on the computer), and listened to some picture books from the library.
Piano lessons resumed this week, after a break for Christmas. All kids are improving remarkably.
PE was done at our co-op this week, and on sleds in the backyard.
In addition to those subjects, we continued on with our History lessons. We did a review of Roman History, and then moved on to the history of Israel at the time of the Roman Empire. Specifically, we learned about the Maccabees, and Hanukkah.
Keira also worked on a clay project she got in the mail with Doodle Crate. She learned techniques to do with wires to sculpt a dog.
Garrett made a model of a kingdom from a show, using blocks one day, getting pretty detailed in what goes where.
William also made clay figures (though not as complicated) from his Kiwi Crate, and put together disc shooters to knock down the figures with.
It was only a few days, but we hit the ground running and are off to a good start for the new year. Keira, especially, is feeling extra motivation to reach some goals she has. She's ready to dig in and put in some effort in areas she wasn't ready to before.
